| Customer Reviews: Great complement of vitamins, etc September 29, 2009 B. Stephens (Sacramento, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
After studying nutrition (among other things) in a Master's program, I learned about what research shows to be the best levels of certain vitamins and minerals. In particular, I was looking for the following:
- Retinol acetate ("Vitamin A acetate" here) levels of no more 2000 IUs( yes it is slightly more in this product, but much better than most)
- Folic acid (folate) levels of at least 400mcg
- Vitamin D levels at least 600-800IUs
- no iron (men don't need it unless if instructed to do so by a doctor)
Downsides:
- you have to take two per day in order to get the doses mentioned
- it's really not cheap compared to many other vitamins that you are probably more familiar with
After looking at several products and comparing the prices, this brand had the best levels of most of these for the best price. Then take into consideration the fact that it also has several antioxidants, etc., I felt that it was worth it. If you are the kind of person though that has a hard time remembering to take just one pill per day, this may not be the choice for you
Good quality multivitamin March 2, 2010 Michael Vigilante (Charlotte, NC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
To the reviewer that said "Tastes and smells funny"... yes, it's a vitamin. Aside from that, I was wary about ordering these, having never heard of Pomology. My fear was these might be a cheap, white, chalky vitamin like Centrum or One-A-Day. Yes they are a stamped caplet (not a capsule), but they actually look to be of high quality, and the formulation is very decent. The inclusion of fruit and seed extracts, bioflavanoids, and milk thistle is a great added bonus. The size is not too large either - very easy to swallow.
Some people would consider a 2-pill dosage as a negative, but I personally prefer a vitamin this way. To me, this is the sign of a higher quality vitamin. The optimal way to get your vitamins is not once a day, but spaced out with meals. The "once a day" mentality has been programmed into us by the lure of convenience. If it takes two pills to fit more, higher-quality ingredients into an optimal dosage, then I'd prefer that over one larger pill. In creating the one-a-day solution those companies are cramming in various chemical ingredients, in order to create a "daily dose" that is usually not absorbed and utilized as well as the aforementioned method.
I would definitely buy these again.
Interesting product August 18, 2008 J. Vicik 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Taste and smell pretty odd, but have a lot of great vitamins and minerals. I will continue to order.
